AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT AND POVERTY REDUCTION: THE MACRO-MICRO LINKAGE
A Conference sponsored by
Development Policy Research Unit (DPRU) and Trade and Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS)
in association with Cornell University with support from USAID
October 13-15, 2004
Cape Town, South Africa
Each year, the Development Policy Research Unit, SAGAs research partner in South Africa, hosts a conference on the economy of South Africa. In 2004, with support from SAGA, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), USAID/South Africa, and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, DPRU expanded this conference to a Africa-wide focus, inviting papers from all over the continent on the theme of "African Development and Poverty Reduction: The Macro-Micro Link." The conference was held over three days, October 13-15, at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset, Western Cape. Hosting this and other such events will help DPRU raise its profile beyond South Africa, where it is already recognized as the leading policy research center for labor market and poverty issues.
